Careers in Agriculture

It’s County Fair Season in Lancaster.   County fairs have been a part of the Lancaster County landscape for a long time.  Thousands of people attend one of the many county fairs each year, where farming is often center stage.   Food and animals are part of the familiar scene.   Lancaster County holds the distinction of being the most productive non-irrigated farming county in the United States which explains its farming heritage and ongoing success as a thriving farm community.   Lancaster County remains the state’s biggest producer of agricultural output.

Careers in agriculture include farming but so much more.  Land planning, water management, food production, manufacturing of farm equipment, transportation and logistics, entrepreneurship, law, diesel mechanics, engineering, public policy, and the list goes on and on.

Farming in Lancaster County will continue to thrive. As the industry diversifies and innovates with new technology, and its aging workforce retires, the agriculture industry will continue to inspire leaders of tomorrow.  Future Farmers of America (FFA) is the premier youth organization preparing members for leadership and careers in the science, business, and technology of agriculture.

Congratulations to the Solanco FFA leadership team and all the FAA leaders of tomorrow. Your future is bright.
