An industry-recognized credential refers to a certification that holds value within a specific industry or field. These credentials are sought or accepted by multiple employers within the industry.
“Credentials have currency in two primary ways: they (1) help an individual find employment or advance in the workforce and/or (2) accelerate a student’s progression into and through postsecondary education and training.”
Through a generous grant from the Arconic Foundation, IU13 is coordinating industry-recognized credential opportunities for public high school students in both Lancaster and Lebanon counties. These certifications provide students American Red Cross Adult and Pediatric CPR/AED/First Aid, OSHA 10 General Industry, and ServSafe Food Handler certifications.
IU13 is covering the cost of the facilitators, the course materials, and any course fees for students, removing financial barriers that are common obstacles for students wanting to earn industry credentials while still in high school, credentials that give them a head start in their career development.
