Initiative Focus: Illuminate Multiple Career Pathways
Career exploration should be easy and accessible, no appointment necessary. That is the idea behind a new network of career exploration kiosks making their way across Lancaster County. Thirty-seven kiosks are being placed in locations throughout the city and countryside, including community organizations, public libraries, and local school districts, through Career Ready Lancaster.
Why Kiosks?
Not everyone knows where to start when it comes to figuring out a career path, and not everyone has easy access to a counselor or career center. These kiosks close that gap. If you are a student, a job seeker, or simply someone wondering what your next step could be, you do not have to go far to start exploring your options.
What Exactly Is a Kiosk?
A kiosk is a self-service machine that lets users complete tasks on their own time and at their own pace. Think of it less like the order kiosks at a fast food counter and more like a personal career exploration station. Users can browse career and education opportunities, look into a wide range of career paths, take a career assessment, or watch different careers in action, all in one place.
Each kiosk uses simple QR codes, so users can pull up exactly the information they want, right from their phone, at their own convenience.
Illuminating the Many Paths Forward
Not every student or job seeker is headed down the same path, and these kiosks reflect that. Whether someone is exploring a skilled trade, a healthcare career, a role in manufacturing, or something they have never considered before, the kiosk puts a wide range of options in front of them and lets them dig in at their own pace.
